PCV Alei Cook from Carey helped her rural Ukrainian Community in the town of Yampil create a media room for their rural school. The media center will be used by 400+ students and 45 regional teachers from 26 surrounding schools, who go to this center to be trained on interactive teaching techniques, HIV/AIDs, etc.
PCV Julia Crowley and her community in Ilocos Norte in the Philippines held workshops on reducing plastic bag consumption and the hazards of burning them. Community members produced reusable bags, led trainings, and distributed the bags to local households. Approximately 10,000 people in town are benefitting from reduced plastic bag consumption and cleaner air.
PCVs Carey Bolnik and Alison Cumbow organized an English language camp focusing on civic engagement, multiculturalism, critical thinking, volunteerism, project planning, and problem solving. Campers each completed a community project. Camp staff included both PCVs and Ukrainians of various ethnicities.
